I like, I know maybe not everyone will but if it improves waht was already there and the operation of teh vehicle generally, then I would say, why not. I have failed miserably on LEDs in much more modern cars, so might cometo you for advice at some stage Peter |

Modern cars with alternators don't really have a need to save on electrical loads but old cars with not very clever control boxes can cause anxiety in the hours of darkness.
I dislike seeing any modern accessories in old cars but I take a more relaxed attitude to unseen modernities such as synthetic oils and LED lamps.

They are very effective, Peter. I think someone suggested having the trafficators flash at the same speed as the front and rears but I can't remember who/where?
Personally, I think they are just fine.
I doubt I could have done it.
A very neat job and a big improvement in safety. |

Thanks Ray, When I showed the video to my wife she said "I don't know what I'd think if I saw that. Possibly just a faulty fog lamp."

That's just silly.
I would think you just had big indicators. |

Better to have bigger lights that are easily seen than some of the silly small ones I have seen on some old cars. _________________ 1938 Morris 8 Ser II Coupe Utility (Pickup)

I like very much the idea of the rear flashing indicators in the back window of your car. I edit Floating Power, the magazine of the Traction Owners Club and we are encouraging Citroen Traction owners to install visible indicators as a safety measure. (Slough cars have semaphores). I wonder if I could pinch your photograph to illustrate the item. The rear window of a Traction is very similar to JVS 620. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

I purchased the complete set of bulbs for my S1 E-type, having awaited the launch of the bulbs for the PL700 headlights. Very pleased with most of the bulbs (especially dashboard) but the headlight ones were a complete failure. |

Yes, headlamps are difficult as most of the LED types have distributed emitting surfaces rather than the more confined filaments of halogen bulbs so focus is not as good. My own requirement was more to give visibility to other road users rather than to give me a clear view in the dark. The LED headlamp bulbs that I fitted are still OK for driving around in the dark but they certainly aren't as good as the filament lamps.

When Halogen lamps came on the market everyone raved about them.
What has changed? |

There's not a lot wrong with halogens but with the nasty move from when everyone just used side lights in built-up areas to using headlamps they take an awful lot of amps from the poor old dynamo. LED headlamps let you use them in towns without taxing the charging system.
