I painted the whole thing with phosphoric acid after using abrasive discs to really clean it. The body is painted with epoxy primer. The wings and stuff have been acid coated for several years as i can't do anything to the car now. They are all fine, no rust at all so long as you keep them dry. I used milkstone remover from an agricultural store, even they had to offer it for me. Dirt cheap! |

I second phosphoric acid, I use it on all steel prior to priming even if the steel looks corrosion free.
