Introductory posts on new forums are always slightly tricky to start off. Oh, there we go, I've managed it.

I have a house move on the horizon and, as an upshot of that, the potential for a new project in a year or two once we're all settled. I've had a passing interest in pre-war vehicles but never really investigated further as I'd assumed they were always beyond my meagre budget, but the house move sees some improvements in that area. Also, the other half has expressed a keen interest in taking on something from the 1920s or 1930s. I'm okay with welding, painting and upholstery, he's okay with wiring and woodwork, and we can both muddle along with mechanical stuff so we should be good to go.

There's a lot to learn! It seems to be a very busy period of automotive history and the more I learn, the more there seems to be to learn. It's quite exciting really.

At the moment I'm dailying a 1980 Austin Princess that I've owned and doggedly maintained for the last 6 years, it's pretty much been the only constant in my life during that time too. It's a labour of love, for sure, but I derive so much enjoyment from this car I can't really see myself moving it on for anything else.

She's been undergoing some surgery lately to finally put right the neglect and poor restoration of her past and is very much a rolling restoration. Little bit two-faced at the moment.

My other daily is a 1994 Rover 414, it's a little new for here, currently on SORN so I can do a tiny bit of welding and an interior swap. Previous cars of note, at least for here, have been a 1972 Renault 6TL that came from a farm in Wales which I couldn't get to the bottom of a running issue on so moved on, and a 1974 Mk3 Austin 1100, which I've recently agreed a sale on.

So there you go, that's me. I've got quite a few snaps of pre-war vehicles I've taken over the years out and about that I'll be sharing in the relevant sections, and I'll be sure to be asking some really daft questions as I learn stuff about cars approaching their first centenary.

I'm on quite a few forums, you've probably seen the name pop up elsewhere.

The time between the last two MoTs for the Princess was a nightmare of weird component failures after having spent a great deal of time welding and recommissioning, but since the last MoT a few months ago it's been almost plain sailing. It's nice to finally be at the bottom of all the historic bodges and to be putting shiny paint on after all this time! When she's good she's very, very good, and when she's not she's horrid.
