I used to instruct/teach military personnel.
When I would ask what the tyre pressures should be [answer is, I don't know, so I will look them up in the 601!]...., sometimes [often, actually] the painted numbers above the wheel station were ignored, but could be incorrect anyway...but far too many would start searching the tyre lettering, to find a pressure mentioned, and be insistent that was the pressure required....[until I would point out what else was written, such as, 'max pressure'....in other words, the max pressure for the carcass, not to be exceeded, etc.]
many would then say, ''their tyres pressures on their cars were set to the pressure written on the tyre wall''.....which begged the question, how many new Vauxhall Corsas, driven by 20-somethings, were running around on 60 psi? |
