I have a set of NOS road springs to fit to my Escort restoration, although they are in good order, they have obviously been sat in the back of a Ford dealership somewhere for a few years. Id like to give them a fresh coat of paint, then a laquer finish to keep them looking fresh. Considering they are springs which will flex, do I need to use a special paint/laquer on them |

I don’t know if it’s such a good idea. The reason being I had three BMW 5 series in a row and each one suffered rear spring breakages. They had a thick coating of paint or plastic which was well cracked and split. I theorised at the time that the coating had cracked, water had then got in a the rest is predictable.

They wouldn't look good for long......
Just ask any series Land Rover owner.
Best thing would be a good coating of oil regularly. |
