But horribly expensive in my book Rick. €8,000 and that is just the entry fee!

Expensive indeed, and then only if you are lucky enough to get an entry which is rare.

My nephew wanted to do a MM once in his life and thought about what would give the best chance of getting in. As you may know only the exact models of cars that have been entered in the original MM over the years are invited. So he scored the lists and saw that a Rover P4 once took part. He then bought a P4 in excellent condition and got an entry invitation. He thinks it is because it was not just another sports car but something different.
With my brother as navigator they enjoyed it a lot. Especially as the Italians are mad about it, the MM cars are allowed to go through historic city centers (usually pedestrian zones) and the police is a great help in escorting the cars.

It was a one time only entry, they will not go a second time as overall they thought the atmosphere was a bit too posh.
