I'm using postimage.org, which seems to work reasonably well.
Flickr isn't dead, but there's a limit of a certain number of photos (I forget how many), above which you have to pay. I've gone to postimage but I don't know how long that will last - my first "jump" was to tinypic, which shut down a few weeks after I joined. |

I have opened an account with Postimage but I am still having problems. I am not able to use Postimage to carry over photos from the photos section of my lap top and post them on the forum. What I have to do now is drag the image from photos and paste it on the desktop and from there place it on Postimage. The system works O.K.from there. |

I'm not really sure what you mean by that Ray. I just log in to the postimage site, pick an album, then choose the images to upload from my PC. Once they've uploaded, the site gives me a list of bbcode that I can paste directly into here. No transferring to desktop. I'm on Win7, don't know how that differs from your set-up. |

Hi
I suspect that Ray's laptop is using the Android OS, as I have seen a note somewhere that postimage doesn't connect to Android. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

To clarify. When I click on the post image "choose images" a drop down menu appears and I can click on "photos". This takes me to my photos.
When I click on the image a blue line frames the chosen photo but it fails to highlight "choose" in all but 20% of the photos. The ones that fail to open have HEIC in faint letters under themwhile the few that do open have IMG in bold type and the "choose" function works correctly.
This has been the situation for months but I know very little about computers etc so I just live with it. |

HEIC appears to be an image file format, in the same way that JPG, BMP, PNG are other image file formats. It seems that HEIC images come from iPhones - does that sound correct? Apparently it's from iOS 11, and is supposed to be better quality but take less space.
If that's correct, if you want to you can change the default in your iPhone to save them as jpeg - some instructions I found on the web say "open your "Settings" app, and select Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. Selecting Most Compatible means that iOS will now save images in the JPEG format." but I don't know anything about Apples.
Another option is when you click on "choose images", do you get a dialog box with a button in the bottom right corner that says "image files"? If you do, try clicking on it and changing it to "all files". That might allow postimage to upload it, though whether the browsers will display it is another matter. If Rick's correct about it being an Android laptop, maybe you don't get that dialog box.
I suspect that when you drag them to the desktop, they get converted to jpeg (or something more compatible) as part of that process. |
