So, restrictions are starting to ease across most of the country, as we all know most if not all our local shows are cancelled for this year.
But,
Is anyone planning to do anything with their classics? Any local gatherings? Any road runs? _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Nothing planned as yet, I don't know of anything actually going on at the moment.
To be honest, even attending a museum when they start to re-open doesn't exactly fill me with glee, with all this talk of washing hands everywhere, one-way systems, and so on ... but we do need to support these heritage organisations if they're going to survive into better times.
I'd be interested to hear how that autojumble that someone posted about a few weeks back went.

Yes, I forgot about that autojumble Rick. I did note September Beaulieu is now cancelled too.
I did see this past weekend a vintage military road run was held at short notice near us, they had 10 or 12 vehicles turn up.
Like you, we do not want to attend museums etc even now they are opening. My workplace is very strict in its restrictions and its very difficult applying with all those rules and then outside I see people simply going about life as normal! It makes me sad that many can be like that.
My plan is that at some point later in the summer is to start taking the car out for local drives and I hope that something even small scale is organised for those in my are that feel likewise. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

My plan is to use an oldie whenever I need to make a trip out, just to keep everything working and also try and make things feel as normal as possible, as much as is possible, without doing any harm to anyone. The medical resources are all in place now after all, and there is a lot more knowledge of this virus available compared to at the beginning, so things do need to start re-opening and resuming activities asap.

I'm long past the point where I badly need a haircut, so I plan to try to do that, although it's not classic-related. I doubt it will be a good plan to try to get it cut on Saturday, so I'll wait until early next week when hopefully things will be quieter. Except that anywhere in town where I could park for free is blocked off to aid social distancing, so I might have to walk a bit further.
I note that Oulton Park have said they will allow spectators into events from July 11th, with lower limits on numbers. |

Yes I read that too, although the paddock and pits will be off-limits, and it's advance tickets only iirc. No spectators at test days either, which is a shame.

well waiting replacement carpet for my old rover ( will be weeks yet .sigh) painted rocker covers and used new gaskets .. glimmer of joy! no haircut other than wife using clippers.luckily I still have 2 ears . reading car mags and online stuff passes lot of time. Then when carpets are fitted can replace seats etc and see about getting an Mot .( rear brakes always an issue on handbrake) once back on road .. will start driving at least once a week depending on weather. not even insured at moment! ( another Fine mess you got me into Stanley) so at moment enjoying keeping a few bob in bank and not chucking it into a really deep ( bottomless?) hole called a classic car . |

Bodes well for the British GT meeting, re-scheduled for August 2nd, though. The thing about no spectators at test days is weird, as you'd think there would be far fewer and so much more space. Perhaps it's because they have fewer Marshalls on duty to make sure people are doing what they should. |

A handful of us locally managed a run around West Lancs on that blisteringly hot Thursday. It was good, and we didn't get in the way of too much local traffic since we kept to the back roads for 90% of it. I wonder if any of the local breakfast meets will get cracking soon. Can't see anything on the St Catherine's calendar yet, although their cafe is opening this weekend. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction
