Wiscombe Park held its third weekend of post lockdown motorsport on Saturday 12th September 2020 when it hosted the MG Car Club event. The events are coming thick and fast, and run under strict Motorsport UK Covid19 guidelines, which again means sadly, no spectators.

Wiscombe was looking glorious in the early Autumn sunshine, which unlike last weekend, lasted all day with the hill gradually getting quicker. The drivers reported that the hill still had some green spots – of course, it has not benefitted from having a National Meeting this season – the big capacity single seaters lay down a lot of rubber - but generally, it is getting towards perfect condition. This bodes well for the final weekend of the season, organised by Woolbridge MC, on the 26th and 27th September.

As organising club, there was a big entry of MG and Riley cars with Alvis and Dellow in the mix too. These cars just look so at home in the grounds of Wiscombe. MG’s from all era’s were well represented. The drivers were competing for honours in the MG Car Club Speed Championship – a mix of sprints and hillclimbs - sponsored by Luffield Cars – now in its 31st year.

There was also a good selection of early Triumph TR’s. These are members of the TR Register – celebrating their 50th Anniversary in 2020 – the TR Register members had already agreed to cancel their Hillclimb and Sprint Championship due to Covid19 but obviously welcomed the opportunity to participate in a non-championship hillclimb.

The Lotus Seven Club had decided to abandon their Speed Championship due to Covid19, but a particularly big field of Caterhams were present taking advantage of the only hillclimb (the other events being sprints) in a re-scheduled, non championship season. The entry included two very rapid Hayabusa versions which got in to the Top 12 times – super quick – ear piecing sound and massively quick auto shifts – awesome!

Again, there was a large number of bikes with a few sidecars in action – these being members of the National Hill Climb Association (NHCA). They had their own dedicated day on Sunday – their biggest meeting of the year - with Saturday action being a warm up for them.

For the other competitors, they were competing for the Wiscombe Tillicoultry Quarries Championship.
