Garage blackout was traced back to where the power feed to the garage was connected into the house circuit via a fused spur, which had blown. Fortunately the kitchen was refitted some years ago and the fitter, who is a friend, remembered where the spur was at the back of a cupboard). Phew. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

Same here. There have been dreadfully high humidity levels lately. The hygrometer in my painting shed seldom goes below 80%. If I put on the heater it goes even higher! |

What kind of heater are you using? Gas or other combustible fuel gives off quite a lot of moisture and probably ups the humidity drastically. Ideally infra red or radiant heaters such as radiators, fan heaters etc. avoid this. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

I have a 3KW electric room heater. It is a kind of convector/ storage heater . The disadvantage is it is expensive to use ...and if Jean found me using it on full blast I would probably be strung up! |

I used to have one of these, exactly like yours, don't suppose it's the same one, my Reg was; WSK 571? |

No, I suspect that the car's original registration has been 'stolen' at some point, so I have no idea what its registration was when it left the showroom back in 1961. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

Same with mine, stolen Reg. but otherwise it was a newly restored car at the time so too good to pass up.
I had a strange experience when I sold it though and it seemed to disappear thereafter. I think the people who bought it were traders, so maybe it went abroad or something but it did look just like yours....... I am sure Wolseley probably made a few black ones though and then there could be the ones that were another colour originally, OK probably hundreds, was worth a shout though, you never know |

There seem to be plenty of black cars illustrated on Google, so, bearing in mind this is still 1961, it is probably not that unusual. Ones that I remember from my youth owned by friends, were generally a single colour, dark red and dark grey stick in my mind. This, incidentally, is a fleet/business model, and so although it has all the other bells and whistles, doesn't have leather trim, although it has all of the woodwork and a heater, so I wonder what the other economies actually were?
Getting towards the end of the list of 'to do' items now, just an oil change to complete and then a good clean and polish. Tyres are good in tread terms, but appear from the codes on the side to be around 12 years old, although spare is only 6, and does not appear to ever have been run.I should replace them before I do any serious motoring. I am also considering changing the awful canister type oil filter for a spin on adapter.
All I need now is a bit of decent weather for some shake down runs, before I do any longer distances. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

Well, having run the car over the summer, I am regretfully coming to the conclusion that it is somewhat too small for comfortable long and medium distance driving for a driver who is 6ft 5 inches small.
So alas, she is now on the market.
She is a nice little car, but regretfully needs a new home with a slightly smaller driver. It would be an excellent buy for someone looking to make a start in classic ownership.
If anyone is interested, then by all means PM me. More details under For Sale section. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction
