Im not really one for attending old car shows and ralies, however there is one event that my wife and I look forward to. We like to tag on to the London to Brighton veteran car run.
Its a wonderful morning out with many hundreds of vehicles of all types and ages turning out and thousands of people lining the route smiling,waving and generally pleased to see you.
I think there was something to interest everyone whatever era you like.

The London to Brighton run is such a great event. Long may it continue.
That very nice 1948 MG TC is interesting. LSU 789 is chassis no.TC 6479 which strangely seems to have escaped the attention of the register of surviving cars.
It is one of the rare export ( EXU ) models that has been re imported into the U.K. where is has received considerable expenditure. Apart from the green metallic paint, water temperature gauge and indicators it looks absolutely correct.  |

Ray, That's my friend Steve's MG. The one I mentioned recently that I helped with his twin leading show brake conversion.
You must have good eyes to be able to see the temperature gauge (and the chassis number for that matter).
I take it you are familiar with it? |

Mike, I was curious so googled LSU 781 which brought up the chassis number and information from when the car was sold at auction in 2017.
I checked with the 'TABC on line' resources which list all the surviving TCs that they know about and it was not there.
This is not surprising; new entries get added from time to time.
I read about Steve's twin leading shoe project in John James' TT2 magazine.
Mention is made of Trad Harrison who has fitted Alfin drums and a servo (like me) because he was also intending to do a TLS conversion.
If I had progressed further I might have considered it myself but I am a still a long way from finished. |
