The BBC know what a vintage car looks like but they still insist on using the term incorrectly. .Why deliberately confuse their readership?
They are also way off by stating it would cost more than £100,000 to make the Espada road worthy. A concours restoration, maybe.

I remember Les Reed - (a deceased song writer friend of my late Dad - they grew up in the same road in Woking) had a new bronze coloured one of these; they have a V12 engine and the exhaust sound is fantastic.!! |

To be fair the article says it could cost more than £100,000 to make roadworthy; I guess if you just throw money at it then that's achievable! _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

I suppose it is possible to spend huge sums of money, but these so called "supercars" are still old technology and achieve their performance with brute force.
Having said that, I would have happily bid £25K for a low mileage Espada... |

i think i could spend it on something better.
£100,000 is a lot of money, just grabbing headlines again. |

One reason these 4 seat Lambos are getting scarce is that many have had their engines nicked. They go into power boats. Quite possibly one of the best V12 engines ever built, they will easily outlive the bodywork which, like all Italian cars, rots away in our damp climate.
Apart from clutch problems, the most common fault is smoke from oil getting past valve seals. Owners also spend many a happy hour trying to get the carbs to balance. |
