Anyone been watching Richard Hammonds Workshop?

I've just watched a couple of episodes, the guys restoring the vehicles I like, the programme though is just another non realistic restoration programme.

I've just watched them restore a Mini....it was night and they were racing to prep and spray it...it was then made out the car was finished and delivered the next day...????

The guy is worth some 45 £million ...so for him to be fretting about having to spend a few grand more restoring a car than he expected seems a bit fake.

i have watched it but again reality tv strikes gain with those fake problems.
i suppose a car show about restoring one properly might be boring to 95% of the tv public.
the mark evens (vet) ones like a 4x4 is born is the only way to do it imho!
we can only hope.

most are set up for profit generation and thus have to adhere to time scales. amount of information etc they cab fit in a schedule. a lot is of course set up. typical is SOS where we can so easily see a format followed. rush at end .will we finish in time' etc some in formation is given luckily, such as cutting out and welding in or engine strip and examination . we even get an odd explanation about an engine rebuild such as pressing in new liners etc but all these programs are designed to sell and make £££. not based on interest of enthusiasts but on IF general public will stay watching! fickle audience etc

MY favourite has to be Henry Cole. I think his style of TV presenting draws you into a world where old stuff doesn't need to be newly painted and shiny all the time. He has some very competent mechanic friends who are not afraid to get their Hands dirty and will have a go at improving most things that might otherwise get thrown out.

Genius is an over used description but I think Sam Lovegrove and Alan Millyard both qualify.

My only reservation was in the episode of 'find it fix it flog it' when they took on a Wolseley Hornet special. This was a rare "Swallow" bodied car and despite knowing this they chose to create their own sports body rather than restore the original.

I am of course somewhat biased... but Swallow Registrar Lorna Mountford has restored one of these cars herself and has made a very nice job of it.

I find Sam Lovegrove a very likeable chap, his manner and knowledge are such a great foil for Henry Coles sort of funny bumbling style...in my opinion.

Dont they have a new program coming out, something like 'Find it, Fix it, Drive it'?
