REIS RACE RETRO RETURNS TO STONELEIGH PARK IN 2023 WITH NEW LAYOUT FOR IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

•Reis Race Retro returns to Stoneleigh Park from 24-26 February 2023
•New show layout creates immersive experience for visitors
•Better hall configuration improves flow to outdoor areas
•Improved spectator areas for Reis Live Rally Stage action
•Tickets now on sale via advanced online booking.

After a three-year absence due to Covid, Reis Race Retro returns to Stoneleigh Park from 24-26 February 2023, with an exciting new show layout that will create an immersive experience for historic motorsport enthusiasts.

Show Director Lee Masters explains: “Since we were last at Stoneleigh in 2020, the venue has seen quite a few changes and it continues to evolve with its proximity to HS2. The changes mean that we won’t be able to use Halls 3 or 4 – which are the oldest halls and therefore the most drafty and cold.

“Instead, the venue has installed an additional temporary hall on to the side of Halls 1 and 2. As a modern addition, not only is this much warmer but also improves the internal flow of the event.

“The vehicle service area for the Reis Live Rally Stage will now be positioned in the Parade Ring just outside and provides the perfect link between the Halls and the Live Rally Stage. We’ve also improved the layout for our live action to make sure our visitors get the best spectator points available.”

A spectacle is what visitors can expect as Reis Race Retro brings together the best of the historic motorsport scene including iconic cars, legends from racing and rallying, industry experts, motorsport clubs, and everything you need for the coming season.

There will also be a one-day sale of competition and classic cars by Silverstone Auctions, book signings, licence medical testing, HERO-ERA arrive and drive experience, and rally driver and navigator training.

Tickets are now on sale for the show, held from 24-26 February 2023 at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, with free parking for all visitors. For the latest updates and ticket information, visit www.raceretro.com.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE PRIDE OF THE PADDOCK AS REIS RACE RETRO RETURNS TO STONELEIGH PARK

•Reis Race Retro returns to Stoneleigh Park from 24-26 February 2023
•Entries now open for the Reis Pride of the Paddock competition
•Visitors will vote to decide which car wins the Pride of the Paddock trophy
•Tickets now on sale via advanced online booking.

Entries are now open for the Reis Pride of the Paddock competition with visitors to Reis Race Retro deciding the winner. Returning to Stoneleigh Park after a three-year absence from 24-26 February 2023, the show is inviting private owners to showcase their competition cars from all motorsport disciplines.

With a new layout for 2023, just eight vehicles will be invited to the Reis Pride of the Paddock final. They will be on display alongside the prestigious Hall of Fame and Reis Live Stage, giving the owners a front row seat to the celebrity guests appearing over the three-days.

The winner and runner up will each receive a trophy along with a year’s free private motor insurance from Reis up to the value of £250 (T&C apply). The winner will also be offered the chance to display their car at the entrance of the 2024 show – as well as the obvious bragging rights!

Show Director Lee Masters said: “We are so excited to launch the Pride of the Paddock competition for 2023. The standard of the vehicles is always so high and with only eight places on the hallowed carpet available, it will be interesting to see which cars make the final podium.”

All cars must have competed in a motorsport event since their manufacture and be made or emulate a vehicle dated pre-2000. All owners featured in the competition will receive two tickets for each of the show days, free parking throughout and a commemorative certificate.

Mary Singleton, Senior Operations Manager at Reis Motorsport Insurance, said: “The Pride of Paddock display always showcases outstanding cars with a great history, and we’re thrilled to be back supporting the display for 2023.”

To enter, download the entry form at https://www.raceretro.com/show-highlights/pride-of-paddock and return with two pictures of the car by 30th January 2023.

Tickets are now on sale for the show, held from 24-26 February 2023 at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, with free parking for all visitors.

Racing driver, TV presenter, and two-time British Touring Car Championship winner Jason Plato will make his Reis Race Retro debut, leading a packed grid of special motorsport guests. Held at Stoneleigh Park from 24-26 February, Jason will be at the historic motorsport celebration all three days so there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to grab an autograph or that all important selfie.

Jason, who started his motorsport career in karting before moving onto Formula Three and Formula Renault, was BTCC Champion in 2001 for Vauxhall and again in 2010 for Silverline Chevrolet. He finished in the top three in the Championship 12 times and holds the record for the most overall race wins in the BTCC. Jason retired after the 2022 season but can still be seen on-screen as a presenter of the motoring TV show Fifth Gear.

He will be just one of the famous faces interviewed on the Reis Live Stage by race commentator and presenter Chaz Draycott. Chaz will also be joined by British rally and saloon car racing driver Louise Aitken-Walker MBE.

Louise’s career began in 1979 when she was entered in Ford’s ‘Find a Lady Rally Driver’ competition, without her knowledge, by her two brothers and was the winner from 2000 entrants. Two years later, she finished 19th in her first rally GB. She contested the 1989 British Touring Car Championship, finishing fourth in points.

Spanning fourteen years up to 1993 when she retired, Lousie became the first woman to win a National Rally outright and the first ever British driver to win the 1990 FIA Ladies World Rally Champion. Louise will be in the Halls on Friday but will mostly be found behind the wheel of a rally car on the Reis Live Rally Stage on Saturday and Sunday.

Welsh rally driver David (Dai) Llewellin, another two time British Rally Champion, returns to the show and the rally stage with his son Tom, a former Welsh National Rally Junior Champion and British Junior Rallycross Champion.

Dai and Tom will both be driving over the weekend as well as being interviewed and taking part in group panels with the other guests with an opportunity for visitors to ask questions.

Authors Crispian Besley, Jon Saltinstall, Tim Beavis and Guy Loveridge will take to the stage to talk about their latest books with signing sessions following their interviews.

As well as celebrating the forthcoming season, there will also be a tribute to those people we have lost from motorsport since the last Reis Race Retro was held in 2020.

THE REAWAKENING OF BRM
TO BE CELEBRATED AT REIS RACE RETRO

•The reawakening of British Racing Motors (BRM), Britain’s original F1 team, will be celebrated in all its glory at Reis Race Retro

•Former BRM designers, drivers and team members including Tony Southgate, Mike Pilbeam, Howden Ganley, Jackie Oliver, and Mike Wilds.

The reawakening of British Racing Motors (BRM), Britain’s original F1 team, will be celebrated in all its glory at Reis Race Retro, held 24-26 February at Warwickshire’s Stoneleigh Park.

The Owen family, descendants of team patron Sir Alfred Owen, will be joined by former BRM designers, drivers and team members including Tony Southgate, Mike Pilbeam, Howden Ganley, Jackie Oliver, Mike Wilds, and Rick Hall, many of whom will appear on the Reis Live Stage throughout the weekend.

BRM will also be making an exciting and long-awaited announcement about future publications in association with Doug Nye.

Launched in 1947, BRM became World Champions in 1962. Raced for over three decades by legends of motor racing, drivers including Juan Manuel Fangio, Sir Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda.

BRM’s Reawakening Project was revealed in 2020 with three objectives – to tell the BRM story in its most authentic form, to introduce the legendary company to a new audience, and to go racing.

Over the past two years, BRM has pushed forward with these goals. A stunning new book Racing for Britain was launched telling the complete story of the only UK Formula One world championship winning team to design and build complete cars.

For a new audience, BRM has also launched a new series of films utilising years of racing and behind the scenes footage that can be watched on YouTube. It also launched the BRM Paddock Pass, an exclusive membership that offers various benefits to enthusiasts.

A major goal was running the BRM MK1 P15 V16 Chassis IV in the Goodwood Trophy at Revival in 2022. This car will be displayed on the BRM stand in Hall 2, along with a Yardley BRM P153 from 1970 and various artefacts from BRM’s archive and history.

I've got a discount code for Race Retro 2024, if anyone wants one. I couldn't find a specific thread for this year's show.

On the other hand, don't bother - it's been cancelled due to weather.

Aye this popped up on FB just now ...

Dear Race Retro Community,

It is with great sadness Clarion Events Ltd and Stoneleigh Park announces the cancellation of this year's highly anticipated Reis Race Retro event. Following extensive discussions and in consultation with the Warwickshire District Council Safety Advisory Group and Warwickshire Police, it has been determined that adverse weather conditions, particularly extensive flooding, rain forecast through to the weekend and road closures render it unsafe to proceed with the event as scheduled.

While this decision was unavoidable, the safety and well-being of our attendees, participants, staff and local residents remain our top priority. We understand the disappointment this may cause, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.

We are committed to delivering an exceptional experience for motorsport enthusiasts and will focus efforts on making Reis Race Retro, 21-23 February 2025 a huge success.

Iconic Auctioneers will still be running an auction ? please visit their website for further details: https://bit.ly/42HKbD7

We extend our gratitude to all involved parties for their understanding and cooperation during this exceptionally challenging time.
