Does anyone know where they may make the old silk rope type grab handles that were fitted to cars in the 20's and 30's for pulling the doors shut or as normal grab handles etc? _________________ 1938 Morris 8 Ser II Coupe Utility (Pickup)

Having a major garage clear up, I came across a brand new pair I had bought some years ago but I cannot remember from where. In fact I didn't remember I had these.
However, a while ago I was looking for the same and I saw Bell sashes made for the likes of marine bells which look absolutely the part so might be an avenue to try.
I think Paul Beck vintage car parts used to supply them, I saw some in a very old catalogue of theirs but maybe since discontinued.

I know from my own experience that this is the place to go for quality. They have a wonderful factory here in Derby that I have visited (personal attention from the MD). They made the braiding for my Austin Swallow and other cars from the original loom that has survived from the 1920s and were most helpful. They can make anything and have a large archive to enable exactly the right thing to be re created.
The downside?
As you know, Armstrong Siddeley quality doesn't come cheap. |
