I have tried uploading a picture numerous times according to the procedure using postimages.org but it would not work. Has it been changed or am i missing something?

I don't think the procedure has changed when using postimage. What has changed is that the forum software refuses to display images prefixed with http insisting on https instead but post image does use https. As long as your image link starts with https and ends in .jpg you should have no problem.

So the form is:
[img]https.........jpg[/img]

Images hosted where https isn't used still work as they did early in the forum's life when http was commonplace. But yes the link used in the img tags must end in .jpg (or a similar graphic file extension), this from the non-https E83W site

Using my work laptop, I can't see the picture Rick has posted (broken link icon is displayed), this is due to the security settings that my company apply to the build and I don't have rights to change. On my own laptop the picture displays fine.

The picture doesn't display for me, either. I'm using MS Edge on Windows 10, and if I try in Chrome it doesn't display there either. If I click the link, it comes up.

So a setting local to your machine/build, that makes sense.

I don't see it either unless I click on the link. But if Rick hadn't printed the link I don't think I could access it.

Can you see this image?

Peter.

If I look in the Edge developer tools, it says stuff like:

"Mixed content: The page at 'this-forum-thread-page' was loaded over https, but requested an insecure element 'the-picture-url'. This request was automatically upgraded to https'

So if the picture isn't actually available over https because wherever it's being hosted doesn't have a secure option, then it won't get displayed.

For Microsoft Edge, you can allow this on a per-site basis if you have access to change the security settings. Bring up the web site, click on the little padlock symbol in the address bar, scroll down to "insecure content" and change it to "allow". I've done that for testing purposes, and the images all appear in this thread now.

Obviously do that at your own risk. I imagine there's a similar way to do it in Chrome or other browsers.

I use Edge at home but am currently using Chrome and there is a tick box in Settings: Upgrade navigations to HTTPS and warn you before loading sites that don't support it

Also three levels of secure browsing from None to Enhanced but there is no combination that lets me see my harmless http images.

I still use Flickr to export my pictures. It does mean having to load them first and then sharing them but that suits the purpose for me as I don't post much anymore.

Trying Flckr..

JVS 002 (Large) by pmscott6135, on Flickr

This does work and when you Share and select BBCode It gives you the chance to select image size. After initially using a default Large 1440 x 1080 which was far too big for someone like me viewing on a laptop I then selected Medium 800 x 600 and got the image size above which I think most people will be happy with.

Selecting Large 1024 x 768 gives the image below which is marginally too big for my laptop viewin.

From the BBCode you can delete the header and footer stuff to just leave the photo.

It seems to be the same in Chrome: Open the site, click on the padlock, select "Site Settings", scroll down to "Insecure content" and change it to "Allow". Chrome will prompt you to reload the page to see the changes, and the padlock won't show any more because not all the content is secure. I just tried that and it brings up the photos for me on Chrome.
