Hi,

Apart from the Triumph Mayflower were there any other 2 door medium size saloons built from 1948 till 1957. I believe the Austin A50 was proposed as a 2 door but never built. By medium i dont mean the A35, Minor, Ford 100E size?
Regards
Alan

Yes thanks to both of you, were there any larger two door saloons in similar size to the Mk 1 Consul?

Thanks for your replies. Were there any larger two door cars similar in size to the Ford Consul or Singer Hunter?

A bit early but the Sunbeam Talbot Ten had both a 2 door and 4 door Sports Saloon.
Also the Amstrong Siddeley Typhoon was a 2 door fixed head Coupe.

Alvis TC 108G (Graber) squeezing in, in both size ( it's a 3-litre straight-6 ) and timewise ( 1956-1958 ). You may also argue it's not fully British as Graber was a Swiss company.

A bit later than your time-scale, but what about the Ford Consul Classic, available in 2-door and 4-door saloon?

15 years ago when I was working in London, I was stupid not to buy a perfectly running AC for 3500 GBP. It did have a good interior, what I did not like was the light metallic green (obviously not original).

Not wishing to hi jack this thread,,, but I think the two door saloon is far more attractive than the four door; which is a shame as they are really quite a rare car.

I have memories of being a passenger is an AC 2 litre and can recall how there seemed to be virtually no body roll at all. There was also a sense of quiet refinement. The interior is simply lovely.

Not so obvious; a light metallic green was an original colour choice and quite popular.

Never realised that metallic was an option back then. For the early 50s Sunbeam Alpine yes (light blue metallic) but did not know for the AC as well. Does this seem original then?
The two tone dividing looks a bit home-decided.
