That's terrific Peter.
I would be interested in your opinion of the Petersen blower specials?

I suppose it depends on what you want and how much you can afford.
Whereas the original blower Bentleys are icons in their own right, any replica (no matter how good) must by definition be a lesser vehicle if judged by the same criteria.
On the other hand, they are hand built in the Vintage style and so should have a place in the pantheon of quality sports cars. |

Well, you certainly couldn't call it a superb restoration, but I have just seen my new dream car.
The price wasn't mentioned, but I know without a shadow of doubt that I couldn't even afford the deposit.
I absolutely love the one with the RR Meteor motor. 21 litres, the mind boggles. Fancy driving a car with a Spitfire motor (or the tank equivilant) Driving that would have to be the ultimate experience on four wheels.

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution |

...and it's in the tradition of the epic aero engined monsters like Count Zborowski's Chittys and the Higham Special.

The engineering is superb and whilst I really dislike old post vintage saloons being turned into DHCs or worse still MkVIs or R Types turned into supposed open sports types, I do like these blower sixes. The price must be fabulous though. Puts any of them well beyond my wallet.

One of the big issues with Mark 6 and R type Bentleys (obviously also included are the RR Dawn and Wraiths ) is that they suffer terribly from rust. I understand the main reason for this is that after WW2 only inferior quality steel was available; even to the most illustrious marques!
Perhaps not surprising that many have been turned into specials. There is, of course, no excuse for destroying perfectly sound saloons... but sadly, money talks.
