A friend of my father bought one new in 1938 and it was laid up throughout the war in a dry warm garage alongside her sisters Standard. After the war it was restarted like it had been run the day before which was a surprise and she ran it for several years then rust came through the paint all over. Her sisters Standard never had a spot of rust. She took it to a panel beater/body shop and they resprayed it, in my opinion very poorly, and within a year the rust was showing again so she traded it on a new Standard 10 in 1955.
I saw many others with rust problems and always kept away from Hillmans. _________________ 1938 Morris 8 Ser II Coupe Utility (Pickup)

She made 3k which I think is rather good considering the current market and her condition. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
