We have a show around 45 miles away from us and my plan was to take both of our Commers...our restored 1942 30cwt and our unrestored 1944 15cwt. My thought was that it would be a good thing to sort of see a before and after of MV restoration?
Well, I've requested a quote to transport them on a low loader from a number of local companies. My issue now is the shear cost of it, my family have been in transport for years and we simply cannot understand the quotes we are getting.
Last night took the biscuit. A company we have known for years and have transported military vehicles before for friends, they came back with a quote of ?1850 to take the two trucks on one load 45 miles each way!!! And that's from a company we thought were sympathetic to our hobby!!
We are seriously considering buying our own transporter for the coming years so that we can take our vehicles further afield.
With our cars its a different matter, we can drive them pretty much to any show or event we want and if anything happens they are easy to tow or simply phone the AA...with the trucks if they break down (which is more often) we then have big issues trying to get them home. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
