|
|
My A40 Truck engine has a metal pipe that provides the vacuum for the advance and retard from the carb to the distributor.
Halfway along there is this cylinder about the size of my thumb. What is it and what does it do? I thought I would blow down it today and I discovered it is blocked. Can I remake the pipe without it? I doubt I can buy a new one and I cant think how to unblock it without cutting it open.
Surely it will work without it?
What do we think?
Thanks
Mike

Its a flame trap, you can get a replacement pipe from any of the Mini/ MG/ Morris Minor suppliers.
Your pipe may not be blocked, try sucking through it rather than blowing.
