What can one say about this possibly unique French touring car except that Sidea - Jouffret is not a make with which I am familiar.

I seem to be prevented from posting photos from the Brightwells site.

While at first there seems to be a lifetime of patina on the body, further reading of the advert reveals it is not time worn.

Even so, I like it as it is and would happily be seen driving about in it.

Previous owner Oliver Way has created a number of pseudo-distressed cars; a shame he didn't leave well alone with this car!

I agree. This fad for fake "ageing" of old cars is something I just don't get.

Did fake patina really start with the aerosols ("Desert Sand, or Jungle Muck") which were marketed to "decorate" Discoveries, Defenders and Rangies etc which never actually left their comfort zone in Chelsea?

It was surprising to not how many cars at the auction "did not meet reserve" are sellers getting greedy or buyers are scarce?

I would say it is some of the Auctioneers who are greedy. There is a conflict of interest if the Auctioneers are paid by both the buyers and the sellers.

We were following the auctions as the lots ended, I was surprised how many were bid over bottom estimate yet ended at reserve not met. Is it normal to have a reserve above the lower estimate?

I would suggest that no one knows what to do with the way that prices keep falling away. Auctioneers are trying everything they can to keep the market alive...but if nothing sells they will eventually stop trying.
