I had a thought the other day, being able to remove the back of the pickup so easily, you could quite easily make de-mount backs, so I could have a steel back (original), Wooden back, flatbed even a small caravan. Just make them have facilities for slide in wind down legs that stick out of both sides front and back so you unbolt, wind down the legs and then drive out from under the lifted back. Then you can back under the other back.

I used to do this with selfpropelled farm machinery!

I think it could be great, any views would be greatly apriciated!

Small caravan?, I hope that you're not getting ideas from that Minor pick-up conversion

Well not really just a bit of a box on the back with a fully water proof roof as I saw a bloke camping in an old pickup at a show under a canvas. I quite fancy a roadtrip and being able to just pull up in this old pickup, and decide to camp over. I was thinking a little more comfort and a basic box!

What do you think?

Why not just stick with the pickup body, and make a tilt frame that goes up beyond the height of the cab back, over which you have a canvas cover? there are mounting holes in the steel rear body for a frame, so you could assemble one to whatever size suits!

Probably will do to start with but was just thinking into the future, I may be bored oneday!

I definateley want a frame and canvas for the back though, it has got to be tall enough to fit a couple of penny farthings in!

In the 20s it wasn't unusual for a bus operator to have a small passenger-carrying body fitted to his vehicle's chassis during the week, then remove it and fit a flatbed at the weekend for delivering coal or similar, so I'd guess that this is similar to your idea. Only a few bolts hold the back end on so wouldn't take long to swap things over. E83Ws are not over-garnished with horses under the bonnet, so whatever you put on the back, it'd need to be not too heavy! I remember driving mine across the fields at Tatton Park one evening (to the last night of the proms bash) with 2 of us up front, and 7 mildly oiled passengers in the back, and with that weight the steering became quite light and vague!
