Updated November 2020.
Previously, the service offered by Photobucket was recommended due to its comparative ease of use. However the move to a paid service has rendered most existing images hosted on Photobucket no longer visible, and those hosted in future only visible on receipt of payment. Quite how my photo shown below is still showing (to me at least), I'm not sure!?
There is apparently a workaround fix which can be installed on the Firefox browser, but I've not yet tried that, and it won't help anyone viewing the forum from a different system or browser.
Alternative photo hosting services have been discussed in the following post: http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19697
Tips on how to use Flickr are now here (thanks badhuis)

============ Added Nov 2020 ==============
Thanks to Peter Scott for posting the following tips in 11/2020:
----
Go to https://postimages.org/
Hit "Choose Images"
Go to your place on your computer where you store your photos and select the one you want to display.
Then click the Img tab in the top right of the forum "Post a Reply" page.
Then click on the symbol pointed to with the red arrow in the example above.
Then click the Img tab a second time.
If you now hit Submit then your photo should appear in the forum.
HTH,
Peter
