I remember that there used to be quite a number of these cars on the road in the 1950's and 60's. I wonder if they were an Australian only version, or were they available in the U.K.

I was reminded because one has just appeared on E-bay.

I'm certain they were an Australia-only vehicle, bodied there by local coachbuilder(s).

As a young apprentice in the fifties I worked for a Jaguar,Rover,Daimler & Armstrong Siddeley dealer. My memory tells me that the Siddeleys all had Wilson pre-select boxes, as did the Daimlers - maybe the syncro box was an Oz thing?

John dale, I don't think that's correct. I had a Typhoon with a manual box.

There's manual 1951? Hurricane I know of just down the road from us - know it and owner well

And very rare too - only 717 built between 1949 and 1952.
