Are you all aware of this!!!!

Unbelivably the EU are considering bringing in a law that will ban cars older than 10 years old being allowed on the roads

Once More they are trying to rule our lives from the ivory towers of the EU in Brussels!

Sign this Downing Street petition to complain

Pass it on to all you know too !

I don't understand this country.

As we speak Tony Blair is off to Europe to sign away Britain's last vestige of independence from EU rule without the promised referendum, that done he will retire (to America probably) and leave us with the mess he has created.

Only direct action and civil unrest will eventually halt the Orwellian future in store for us, but that's not what us Brit's do is it?... and so we sleepwalk into oblivion.

Just so's you know! Sign the petition Wink

Can anyone supply a link to a document or article, stating that this is being looked at actively?

I will also wait until I see some confirmation of this proposal.

There is a clue in the list of signatories:

"Which Idiot Dreamed This Up"

Seems to go against this piece from the FHBVC website:

7 March
More success in Brussels
FBHVC Chairman Andrew Burt (who is also a director of FIVA) and Vice President Geoff Smith met Marco Gasparinetti on the Clean Air and Transport section of the European Commission's Environment Directorate towards the end of February.
They were representing both FBHVC and FIVA and had gone to discuss the findings of the research into the extent, value and character of the historic vehicle movement that had been undertaken in 2006 - the research had been triggered by a remark made by Mr Gasparientti two years previously when he had commented that the Environment Directorate could not accept FIVA's unsupported claim that historic vehicles made an insignificant contribution to pollution.
Mr Gasparinetti congratulated FIVA on the work it had undertaken, and said he was now happy to accept the findings, one of which was that historic vehicles account for less than 0.1% of total European traffic. On that basis, Mr Gasparinetti said it was unlikely that the Directorate would consider that banning historic vehicles would make any significant contribution to improving pollution levels.

And this research on the UK classic car market also published on the site

Key Findings
1. Economic Activity
• Historic vehicle related activity is worth over £3 billion to the UK annually.
• Export trade is worth over £300 million.
2. Employment and Stability
• Over 27,000 people in the UK earn some or all of their living serving the historic
vehicle movement.
• 81% of businesses serving the movement have been established for over 10 years.
3. Number and Use of Vehicles
• There are over 400,000 historic vehicles that are roadworthy and licensed.
• Over 65% of historic vehicles travel fewer than 900 miles per year.
4. Cultural and Social Activities
• 30% of historic vehicle owners have a household income of less than £20,000 per year.
• In pursuit of their hobby members of FBHVC clubs spend 740,000 nights away from
home both within and outside Britain.
• 67% of historic vehicles are valued at less than £10,000.

But if someone shows me proof that this petition is not a joke I will sign.

It appears that current genuine historic vehicles may be granted exception, but the future of the classic car industry dies as all 'older' vehicles are deemed scrap.
