				| I posted this earlier but it seems to have gone? 
 The 650 BSA I just bought had something about it that I just couldn't put my finger on - until today that is.
 
 Look at the picture of the exhaust stub entering the head below and notice that there are no fins or finned ring at the junction where the head meets the exhaust.
 
 
   
 
   
 does anyone know if this makes a difference at all or were the rings just a styling thing and can be disregarded?

				| Mystery solved! 
 I found an excellent website for info regarding old Brit bikes and the guys over there told me the fin collars are really only decorative, or at best they aid cooling to the exhaust stub area - either way non-essential.
 
 I also came across a Swedish guy that had bought the same bike 1970 model and restored it, I e-mailed him and he offered some great advice regarding the bikes.
