Hi all, received this over the weekend. Not the oldest of caravans, but might look well behind a late 60s or early 70s car?? any enquiries will be forwarded...

---------------

I came across your OldClassicCars page whilst browsing the internet with a
view to testing whether an old caravan may be of interest to anybody, as I
have been asked for assistance in the disposing of one dating back to circa
1969. I realise that this is on the margin of the period for which you
expressed an interest but since the particular van is in such fine original
condition with no restoration, perhaps it may be of interest to you.

The vehicle in question is an Elldis Whirlwind XL.. Its precise date is
uncertain but an H plated car (1969/70) was bought new at the same time.
Acquired by my sister-in-law and her husband at the time when they looked
forward to a carefree early retirement, it has spent most of its life in a
specially modified garage, having actually been used, I am told, for less
than half a dozen times. With his recent death, his widow is anxious now to
see it moved. The design is no doubt dated but, having no great interest in
caravans myself, I hadn't previously seen inside it. Having now done so, I
feel pretty sure that there can't be many vans of a similar age in such fine
fettle. The interior particularly, is virtually as new, even the cabinet
drawers still have that attractive 'new wood' smell!

If this holds any potential interest for you, I shall be happy to provide
some greater details, including photos.
