Cheers

Gee Rick,
That’s a bit harsh (assuming wowser has the same meaning over there as here Wink ) I’m sure forum members will start bidding for this little gem with gusto..very soon.
Correct me if I’m wrong but this van, made by Bertram Hutchings, was the forerunner to the very popular Winchester models and is something that must be rescued and restored as a valuable piece of caravan history Confused .

Do you know if the bloke who ran into it is out of hospital yet Wink Confused .

On second thoughts, and after deciphering some of the text in the description, it would appear, to my mind, that they have buggered this dear old 1925 caravan.
It has been “modernised” by the fitting of a refrigerator, gas cooker & WC with shower Shocked .
Do they really think these additions make a historic 1925 caravan more desirable Sad

Is it just me, or does anybody else think this is sacrilege Confused ?

G’day Rick,
The slight variation in the spelling between wowzer and wowser apparently makes all the difference Rolling Eyes .
I was not familiar with the word wowzer which, as you say, means WOW!

Wowser is an Australian slang expression defined in the Wikipedia on-line
encyclopaedia as :-one whose overdeveloped sense of morality drives them to deprive others of their pleasures.
And that is pretty spot on, a wowser is a spoilsport or a killjoy, and more recently it has expanded to include somebody who refuses to spend money on simple pleasures, and that is the context I thought you were using the word....come on you wowsers, dig into your pockets and buy this vintage caravan.
I apologise for the misunderstanding but it is fun eh? Smile
I see nobody has dug into their pockets yet to buy this old van, the starting price does seem rather high.

Hi

Hopefully you would be able to take the modern stuff out, and refit it with salvage yard tresures!

Cheers

Am sure someone will take it on, I've flagged it with someone I know who has a few caravan contacts, as for Wowser - never heard of that before, amazing the differences in our same language Smile

Did you see that Rick ?

Somebody called "vintagecaravans" picked it up at it's starting price.
I had a look at the membership list and it appears he is not a member of this forum, pity, it would be nice if we were able to follow what he does with the restoration of this old girl.
