I have just purchased a 1973 example and it came with the standard air cleaner box which seems to work. I have attended various shows in my other classic and have photographed for reference material many MK4 and several have twin seperate air cleaners, mainly K&N.
Having heard both sides of the story from respective owners I am now confused. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the twin system.
Thanks |

K&Ns supposedly breath better, but you need to swap needles too so another cost to bear in mind. If you're just using the car to drive around in, I'm not sure I'd bother with changing to them.
If you plan to tune up the engine for better oompphh, then better air cleaners, if fitted along with other go-faster goodies, will improve breathing and no doubt improve 'go', and perhaps economy too?
