Interesting... About four years ago I spent 14 months assessing and writing a report on a complex piece of 'copied' American equipment while working as an expert witness in a case between an American and Chinese manufacturer.
I was horrified by the appalling quality control of the Chinese manufacturer and the fact that in many attempts to "beef up" various components they had lost sight of the original functional requirements.
Having said that; they are smart cookies, learn very fast and I believe are capable of turning out quality products given the right guidelines and conditions, after all, who would have thought the Koreans capable of quality motor engineering a few years ago? I drive a Kia (or the wife does) and it is difficult to fault.
Look at the reputation the Japanese had 40 years ago.

I agree with pigtin, the quality is getting better and better.
I also drive a Korean car for everyday use (hyundai) and its already 10 years old and was bought second hand and was 5 years old at the time and always been totally reliable, the interior is full of cheap plastics but on the whole its a car I'd reccomend to someone else. Didn't think highly of them beforehand but now I know i was mistaken!! |
