Thought you might be interested in a car I had in the 60s. It was a Karman Ghia 1500S.
I am told that very few of them were imported into the UK.
This one was a delight to drive and could reach an indicated "Ton" but the downside was the lights, like candles in jamjars, and the body rotted like a carrot.
I should have persevered with it and bought new panels when they were still available, but I was hit up the rear by someone who didn't notice the glimmer of my stop-lamps and shortly after, I blew the engine up, bigtime.
After my brother making an effort try to restore it we decided it was too rotten and worn out and it found it's way to the breakers.
Sorry about the quality of the photo.

Great period photo, brings back memories when you mention the lights. I used to drive a 62 and then a 60 Split Screen type 2. 1200cc engines and a reserve fuel tap (on the 60 model) instead of a fuel gauge made overtaking interesting Like you say i too wish i had had a go at restoring instead of sending them to the scrapyard in the sky |
