First view of the Goat Lady's van, which I first heard rumour of in a pub (this chap had seen it in a field belonging to an ancient Goat farming lady 8 years ago).

I have now picked this rotten carcass clean with the help of Mike (Truman). As you can imagine, there wasn't much worth having. The chassis had literally rusted through and the engine was resting on the ground.

In the foreground is a Bedford CA. I have rescued the front chrome trim, if anyone is interested.

along came three

I happened to see two milk floats the day I moved my van from a mate's garage to where I have it now.....I ran after them and asked if they'd pose their floats with mine for a photo. You have to imagine mine with the float's roof over the flatbed.

ooooo
if I wasn't so busy, I might!

you could stick it in the front of your house and charge it off the mains!

After mine, it doesn't look like hard work. Is it yours, Rick?

Hi Rivet

A pal and I rescued it from the chop, there are no motors or batteries in it (otherwise the trailer wouldn't have taken the weight!!). Its an ideal candidate for a small petrol engine installation we reckon. Or a Rolls Royce Goblin bolted on to the rear body Very Happy

Hi Rick
Always good when someone saves something....but finding bits will surely be hard.

Incidentally, I opted to get emails informing me when things change on this thread, but they didn't tell me you wrote this last one.

I seem to remember finding a milk float enthusiasts website somewhere. You might find someone with motor and batteries who is looking for a cab and chassis that way

Hi Rivet

Yeah thats why we reckon the float is a candidate for a re-engine, at least make it mobile at an event. Sourcing a suitable eleccy motor, and paying for the batteries, probably rule out it being returned to electric power. It could make a nice static display somewhere too. It must be rare-ish, most floats around seem to be the later fibreglass jobs, which is why we wanted to save it.

I contacted the milk float website, although they weren't aware of any homes for it!!!

cheers

I do like the float! Trying to be strong now, but I could just imagine myself whirring down the 8 miles of lanes to work each day in it....
No, be strong. Just finish the J and imagine that instead!
I used to drive a later 'leccy float as a part time job in my student years so can appreciate such things. The joy of being overtaken by cyclists, the policeman standing in the road with the radar gun shouting "You're doing 7mph!" as we hummed along. Great fun.

Rivet

Would you mind if I included the photo of the Goat Lady's van in a new collection I'm planning to put on the site, containing pics of derelict & unloved vehicles?? Very Happy that pic would be perfick!

ta, Rick

This was taken at the recent Tatton, reflected in the hubcap of the customised J Type that was on show
