|
|
We've decided to bring our caravan into the 21st century by making new curtains and recovering the seats with something a little more modren.
The curtains are now all finished and up and we've good progress this weekend with making the new covers for the seats. I even had my hubby at the sewing machine.
2 cushions down, 4 to go!
Then to finish off waxing the woodwork, I started this before Easter, but it's a little difficult with the kiddies were on holiday. |

Things have moved along slowly since I last posted about this on here, but here is what our 1968 Safari looked like before:
It's a shame that I didn't photograph the curtains! They were green and cream, went beautifully with the orange cushions.
The outside had been attacked by brambles and birds poo.
Now, please remember that this project is far from finished.
The proud owner loading his roller with paint.
Lizzie our little girl seems to like it!
The walls are going to be painted in a warm cream and eventually the carpet will be replaced. Then it's sort the plumbing, electrics and make a table for the front unless we are able to find one. Oh yeah and get a new potta-potty thingy.
I have bought a retro Melmex tea set in powder blue, now I'm looking out for matching bowls and dinner plates and other period accessories.
Mike's fitted a towbar to the Volvo, he's just got to do the electrics next weekend and we're ready to rock & roll!!
Sadly this year it won't be towed by the Humber, as the engine decided to fail on us coming back from a show a Billing in early June. The big end went when we were 15 miles from home and the crankshaft has been away being sorted ever since. |

What's a potta potty or are we missing something , she says wev'e got the full set of melaware in green , not just cups she now says we don't have egg cups and youve pinched our material for the seat covers .
She says caravan snobbery , yours may be bigger but ours is all there and working , minus awning which was an extra . and all our road legal cars have towbars . |

Hi
Porta Potty? Toilet??
Looks good, I quite like the idea of a camper or caravan, but I think like said previously that will be one for the future!
Cheers

Our road legal car now has a towbar, infact the Humber also has a towbar. It's not our fault that the Humber isn't on the road.
As for the fabric, I bought ours in October and it's teal green with orange flecks, whereas yours in a soft mid green. Your's is also a closer weave than mine. It's not really what I wanted, I wanted a creamy-gold with a print, but Mike wanted something plainer. I only paid £1 a metre for the curtain fabric, the lining was more expensive!!
Anyway, you're starting to sound like Mitch. |

As I'm sure you might have seen Gillberry, I'm having a tough time at the moment. Life seems to be pretty naff at the moment.
The Humber outing idea will need a bit of planning, as we've got a busy few weeks a head.
Mike used antique white external gloss from B&Q and the flash was done with a Ford blue that Mike found our local Wilco store. |

Hi
You are not the only one having a tough time, I can't go and see my little bees, I have to watch my dad go and see them, but if I go I risk a bad reaction that could be fatal.
Not very happy right now!
Cheers

I read in one of your posts about your problems, it's such a shame when something or someone spoils your hobby. This past year has been blinking awful one way or another.
Lets hope things improve soon, for all of us having a tough time. |

you are having a tough time - let me think in the last year
my car was written off
my dad has been registered deaf blind and with losing mum he is on the down ward trend
simons mum has been given 1 year to 18 mths with her cancer
I am having to run back and forth to the hospital with my neighbours (of 18 years) as they are in their 80s have no relatives and she has now been diagonsed with a serious heart complaint and is waiting for a appointment at papworth (more long trips for us)
Sally dog has vets tomorrow for a lump which has come up on her leg
Rosie dog is still having a allergic reaction and scabs from where she was washed and clipped
and to top all that we just now heard simons eldest is waiting a specialist appointment for a brain scan as he keeps having black outs
but you still get up every day put on a brave face go to work and and try and carry on as normal
sorry for the list but this is what we have going on at the moment as people say things can only get better in time, so if he sounds a bit grumpy or off sometimes may be you can now understand why |

I don't think I've ever known a thread to stray this far off topic before.
We've all got stuff going on that's negative. We just have to be thankful for what we have, good or bad.
I have had a terrible year and without going into detail, I have accepted it all & got on with stuff. Nobody knows what's around the corner, so you have to make the most of it all.
All clichés, I know, but true, nevertheless. |
