I,m interested in building a caravan from scratch, this includes everything from chassis to skylight. Does anyone have home build plans for a vintage van? |

Hi
Make a living wagon, shepards hut style van, and it would be easy, all very square, but very easy to make.
Cheers

This might not be the type of thing you were thinking about, but several people seem to be building Teardrop style caravans. Here's some photo's of a guy called Langy's teardrop build. (ooh, it's a dinky little photo, sorry!)
There's more photo's here: http://rides.webshots.com/album/557865367bEPjbZ |

Hi
Why not make a huge teardrop! Then it could be a tear pond! Sorry, my humour tried to strike again!
Do they make, or has anyone ever made a big teardrop?
Cheers

That's a good one that!
I'm not sure if anyone has tried, I guess it could work. Teardrop's are nice, but not really much good in the country as it's always raining! |

There are two do-it-yourself caravans, constructed from plans in one of the motor magazines, that I know of in my area.
They are constructed like two boxes (one inside the other) and an arrangement of bowden cables and pulleys raises the outer(lid) until it is tall enough to walk about in. One of them belongs to a friend of mine and it is usually coupled to an early Austin seven.
