As a spin off from another topic, I was wondering:
How many on the forum have taken their classic out of the country? Or are planning to do? And if not, why not?
(Scotty, in your case I dont mean just to England!)

I plan to take my Dodge to both the Isle Of Wight & Holland at some point.
I have also been invited to Southern Ireland, but the roads aren't brilliant. Or so I hear. |

Job-rated: Holland is a good place to visit, that I can say from experience, and I can suggest plenty places to visit with your Dodge. But then again, why not Scandinavia? last time i went to Eire was with a 63 Singer Vogue....no problem with anything, was 40 years ago though....
Buzzy: No, Scotland doesnt count for the English...
Rick: whats wrong with your Devon for a long leisurely trip?

What's the matter with you lot?
2007 is the first year in the last 8 or 9 years that I haven't taken my classic overseas for a decent run.
With the Safari I have been to Belgium, the Vosges Mountains in France (1100 mile round trip), Switzerland (1300 miles).
In my P6 Rover V8, several trips to Barcelona (2000 miles through France or 1300 miles via Plymouth/Bilbao)
And lots of shorter tours round Northern France, Belgium, or into Holland.
I suppose it helps living within 70 miles of the Channel ports so I can be in France just two hours after leaving home. |

Rick - that's no way to talk about the Midlands! You'll upset the natives! |

the Devon is ok for local jaunts, but is hard work on a trip (plus the faint waft of oil fumes isn't the nicest ). If I still had my Amazon, I'd have put o/drive on it by now and that would have been ideal for a jaunt over t'water.
I have a rumbling inclination to find a mid 50s (pre-Giggles type) Humber, perhaps when the Dodge is over and done with, so that might lend itself to some lengthier trips

Channel ports? What wrong with Hull? They've got ferries to Belgium and Holland....both of which are way better than France! At least Belgium and Holland have good beer!
