Another go at this topic, What sizes speakers would have been used in a 1959 ford 100e. Would it have been one single 4 ohm speaker
or a 8 ohm. I have a 1959 ford radio but now speakers (radio does work Tried it on a 4ohm modern speaker, But the volume seem's a bit on the low side

Older radios used 8 or 16Ω speakers - 2 matching 4Ω speakers in series (I think or it parallel?) will equal 8Ω _________________ Rover P2

Can't comment on the speakers because the internals of my radio were modernised but here's my finished job |

Here we go; impedence is measured in ohms at 1khzs and represented by z.
Speakers in series are simply added together like so, zt = z1 + z2 + and so on.
Speakers in parallel are represented by the equation, 1/zt = 1/z1 + 1/z2 + and so on.
So 2 x 4ohm speakers in parallel = ¼ + ¼ = ½ now reciprocate = 2ohms
And 3 x 4ohm speakers in parallel = ¼ + ¼ + ¼ = ¾ reciprocate = 4/3 or 1 1/3 ohms. The most power out of a speaker is when the speaker impedence matches the internal impedence of the amplifier, this is known as impedence matching.
Got it?

Hi
I would guess that it was the same time they dropped the domestic Radio licence. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

If you have a radio in a shop or other public area you have to pay around £200 to the performing rights people. Somehow I do not believe the money gets to any of the artists, why don't the authorities just call it a licence or Radio Tax. _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1

Same applies in Oz, however a friend of mine solved the problem by installing a notice in his shop which read "Please Note- The Radio in this shop is for the staff only. Customers and members of the public must refrain from listening to it." _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |
