I suppose you guys have no problems getting the 3/8” and 7/16” copper washers for the banjo bolts on the brakes.

Thanks UJ, thats one I hadnt found. At first search it dont look good. I think I might just order a heap of them from the US. Pretty much given up trying to find stuff locally here. This country is sh.t in some regards; no water and no copper washers.

Hiya Mike , you can't have been looking too hard. Any industrial harware supply will have them, likewise any decent brake service will be able to supply them, and most automotive parts houses have them in the small Champion brand packs , as well as in larger assortments packaged by GeeJay. There should be any number of places in Dandenong that would stock them, even the Bolt supplier on Frankston/Dandy Rd should have 'em. If you get stuck, there's plenty of suppliers over this way( Croydon) and in Bayswater too, cheers, Col.

Good day Col. Thanks for your suggestion, but actually I have been looking for them quite hard for some time. And no, industrial hardware etc do not stock them. They are a specialised type of washer.
You are probably confusing these with the ordinary flat washers, which are widely available. These washers are thicker (1.5mm) and have a narrow rim (about 1/8”). They act as a gasket in the brake line, and must prevent leakage whilst resisting full brake line pressure.
Hydraulic supply places like EnZed have them, but they are the wrong size. To get the correct size I either make them or get them from OS. And judging from the way the Aus$ and US$ are going lately, OS is looking good.
Not only that, but I’m completely pissed-off with this place. I could have saved a lot of time & money by just ordering from os at the start instead of all the running around to one dead end after another. I wouldn’t care if the shop was next door and had a mountain of them in the back yard. It’s just easier to sit at the terminal and place an online order.
Cheers

Hi Mike, did you try genuine Holden or Ford dealers for them ?

Kaybee, Holdens and Fords do not use banjo connections for the brake lines. I dont know of any other vehicles that use them. I have considered making adaptors so that I do not need to use the banjo connetors, but would prefer to keep it as it is.
Cheers,

You are absolutely right Col. what was I not thinking. I have a set of XB calipers in the garage with them, and my EF fowlcan uses them.
It will be interesting to see how much they cost as a spare part if available. They may only come as a compliment to a new hose and banjo connection, but I will check it. |
