Hi there,
I have a 1980s (I think 1981 or 2) 2 berth Abbey, not quite a classic so much as a useful and faithful old friend, which has had damp in the past....more to the point, has had 'wet' in the usual places, top front corner in particular. However, I've sealed this and has currently been dry for a year but it has left the wood paneling inside of a soft and spongy nature....now, the van is not worth stripping back, in my opininon, to do a proper job or replacing it, is there a cheap and quick fix? I've seen a liquid in the past ( I gues some type of resin?) that can harden wood that has got soft, can anyone tell me what and where I can get it? Or was I dreaming?

Regards,
Phatjap.

I've heard of people using this type of wood hardener in the past, as far as I know its available in the usual DIY outlets. Not something I've tried though, but as a measure to get some more use out of your van at minimal £, it might be worth a try?

Hi,
A friend of mine used this stuff on the rear body of a 1929 Austin coal lorry. It does seem to work well, and the soggy bits now are hard again. Leaves a sort of shiny finish on the surface but it looks ok. Was nice to preserve the original structure rather than redo it all and make it like new...

cheers
Iain
