That brings back memories: Did a bit of grasstrack myself in those days and the organization would terminally traumatize a present day safety officer.
But did we get killed and badly injured?... Fraid' some of us did...

Lovely bit of film....
Brings back memories of watching the Grandstand Trophy on a Saturday afternoon...

Very short and painful career at Barham (Nr Lydden) I had helped my mate build a 250 JAP grass bike and he thought he would be able to go out and race without without any biking experience, other than a few circuits of a field. Consequently he would fall off and lose his enthusiasm during practice, and I would take the bike out in the races (very illegal). After doing this a couple of times, I fell off, hurt myself and lost my enthusiasm (and a couple of days work).
All this happened in 1958 and the injury caught up with me again in 1996.
