We call these pancakes crumpets in Scotland and what you call drop scones are pancakes....

interesting, our crumpets are totally different to pancakes. The former are quite thick and smaller in diameter, the latter much wider and thinner

What was interesting to me was when I looked at the link, and read what we do here on that day.

Though the correct name for what we eat here is ''fettisbullar'' everyone calls them either ''semlor'' or ''fastlagsbullar'' The contents are whipped cream and almond paste...loads of calories, not suitable for anyone dieting.

Pancakes are usually eaten on Thursdays throughout the year, usually with cream and some kind of jam (strawberry or rasberry, but others as well) quite often with Punsch (an alchoholic drink, nothing like the english punch)

Grief, I'm turning into an anorak! hope you all arent bored!

I suppose you will all want the recipe for the Yellow Pea soup that we eat with the pancakes, wont you?
