this is my first time on this site and am seeking advise on a car value
I currently own a 63 mk 2 jag and am considering buying an e type jag!!
the car is a 1970 e type 2+2 f.h.c. its a two owner car with 80,000 miles
4.2 manual the only things this car has had are drivers floor mat and a good repaint other than that its completly origianal the underside is very nice and the rest of the car is a 9 out of 10
question 1 the car was ozzy delivered and is completly rust free has been garaged and covered all its life
my plan would be to buy and use for a while then maybe sell
what is it worth??what would it be worth on the world market
would poms be put off by an ozzy car (im a pom)
my reason for being so cautious is that i will be stretching my budget ond cant afford to muck up (hence the floating my questions)

Just going by the prices asked in the Jaguar Driver I would make a very approximate guess that you might find a buyer at £15k.

This model is the least desirable of the E types by reason of high windscreen longer body and plastic rocker switch interior.

Hm Jaguars my favourite topic
Well first off you have picked the least desirable, if there is such a thing with an e'type a 2+2FHC and a series2
The 2+2 is slightly less pleasing to the eye because of the rake of the windscreen to increase leg room ultimately thus it tends to be cheaper
Also Aussie cars are OK as they are RHD but there is always something about an imported E' that lowers the price a little bit my
I would suggest in good condition (and I am trusting your judgement) it would be about 15k now but not much more in 2years time
Personally I think if the E' is your dream but you will consider selling it in a couple of years go for a series 1 or11/2 in need of a bit of work, tidy it as you go along and make a couple of grand profit

Hi again thanks peter / greeney sorry about lack of profile dont wish to be rude just not very good at these computer things am amazed and impressed at the response time the asking price here in oz for this e is $55 k which is the top end but it is a lovery car my mk 2 is also nice but drives like a truck having just got rid of an old "S' type the E is stirring my dreams but dont want to get carried away i had hoped it might have been worth more on the world market giving me a larger safty net however that was the point of this exersize you guys know best

Hi Ray,

Honest, there was no collusion between Greeney and myself but we seem to have a remarkably consistant pair of replies, even to the extent of the posting time.

I know of someone here in the UK who has recently purchased two other Jaguars from Aus and even including the shipping costs they both represented good value. On this (non-statistical) basis I think prices in Aus represent better value than those in the UK. I suspect that both Greeney and I assumed you were UK based so the £15k might even be too high for Aus.

yes I didn't realise he was actually in Australia. I don't know what the exchange rate is either
Even a concours 2+2 with awards will only fetch 20k tops
MK2s do indeed feel like a bag of bolts after driving an S'Type I have had them both and still have S 1965 3.8 MOD lovely car

55,000 Australian converts to £26,547.25 today.

But the market variations would also have to be taken into account.

ie Do cars in general in Oz fetch higher or lower prices than here.
Is there a higher rarity value in OZ for a British car.
