Well the engine bay is ready, will leave it a couple of days and then sand down with 1500 and polish!
In the meantime I'll start painting the engine and have some other small stuff to do as well!! |

Dont forget to fit new seals on the gearchange & drive axle,s
its soo easy to do, with the engine out, and its not fun, if the engine leaks, after all the nice work _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

Not only those Jens, I'll be changing all the subframe mountings and engine mountings and bushes too!!
When this is ready I'll have to help my cousin on his mini and do the same thing on his then I'll be turning my attention to the underside on my mini and paint it to match, and change whatever needs changing! |

Yesterday I decided to take the green mini out cause it had been hibernating for most of the summer months and one tyre had gone flat, the culprit was the valve which I got hastily changed since just a stone's throw away from my garage there's a tyre and wheels guy so handy to have nearby!
Then I went to buy some new bolts, washers and self tappers in stainless steel to put on the blue mini and therefore went in the green mini to give it a run and then went to have a look and get a part that I wanted to spray from the blue mini's garage near my mum's house!!
Must say the paint has gone hard and its time to sand and polish now, probably done tomorrow though as today I will be giving the first coat of colour to the engine and if any time is left will start polishing the distributor cause yesterday I cleaned it all up ready to start sanding!!
Can't wait to put it all back together now but I can't rush it, there's still some work to do so its about right!! |

No photos yet, too busy doing the stuff and when I remember its already time up to rush home!!
Well yesterday gave 2nd coat to the engine and a sand down with 320 and the final coat to the subframe.
Then did the rocker cover which I have taken off to do separately and the exhaust/inlet combo after sanding it down with heat resistant grey paint! |

So time for an update and some photos.
On saturday the engine bay was sanded down with 2000 wet and some liquid soap and then polished with G3 rubbing compound and then given a final polish with auto glym's resin polish!!
The final result is not bad though the prep could have been better!
After I started the reassembly of the engine bay, putting back brackets, wiper motor and cleaning and reinstalling (re taping were necessary) the wiring loom. Just got half way though as it was time up and I had to go home so will continue this week.
On sunday I had an hour or 2 to spare and so I polished the distributor and coil clamp.
However here are some pics at last;

Hi Jens, thanks for the comments, the bracket is there near the bracket for the windscreen washer bottle with both the hazard flasher (round one) and square one for the indicators fitted to it, thats why it cant be seen. |

Yesterday I spent a couple of hours cleaning the horns and their brackets and applying some black paint to the brackets, then I did the coil bracket too and afterwards clean the su setup from the outside only, and finally polished the bit of steel on the plastic air filter housing.
I thought I was almost ready but I keep finding things I could improve on but hopefully by saturday the engine should be in and the mini mobile again!! |

Yesterday spent 3 and a half hours working on the mini, reassembled most of the parts I had taken off the engine, the rest will be fitted when its back in since its a squeeze to get it in!
Then continued tidying the wiring loom and re installing it in its correct position but had to stop when it was almost 19.00 and go home for dinner!
Today work on the engine bay will be resumed and hopefully finished so I can take tomorrow off and then on Friday I have the day off and together with a friend we'll change all the oil seals on the engine and all the front subframe mountings and on saturday put the engine back in! |
