Not seen them before, seen a nice bottle jack you pop into a tractors back end, and jack it's self up on it's own hydraulics.
Simmilar to checking the wear in the driveline of a JCB, simply, put stilts down, and front bucket down, and drive through all the gears, checking for noises that sound wrong, just hope your hose doesn't burst, as you end up driving through the workshop wall!

Buzzy, nearly all the production car in Oz have them, their cheap , you would not get under them as if the thread stripped down she comes.
The old Falcons had a jack that lifted on the bumper bar , just put the jack lip under the bar and ratchet it up turn the switch handle and ratchet it down (not very stable on sloping ground)
