I have a large flat wooden box with ten compartments for imperial nuts and bolts 1/4"b through 5/8" I balanced it on a high chair to find a particular bolt and forgot about it. Yesterday while moving the cars about I knocked it over, must be at least 500 nuts and bolts all over the garage floor... If I can rouse the enthusiasm to clear them up they will all go, mixed, into one big box and I will spend many happy hours in my dotage searching for fasteners that probably aren't there. Sod organization! it always comes back to bite you on the bottom. |

I did that too and with all the French holidays I got my youngest son to sort them all again for me and paid him a tenner
Even better than first time round as he sorted "non hex heads" into a separate box
I do take the wheels off and clean the inside of the wheels but dont generally remove stones unless they are obvious _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

I only clean the out side unless there off for some other reason what do they say "what you dont see wont hurt you" , and stones when they annoy me clicking on the road, and then hope they fall out on their own accord.
The thing that annoyes me is when you run over a animal bone on the road you dont see or cant avoid and thats the end of a tubeless tyre. |

This is the trouble with being fussy if I don't do it "my way" I worry, not obsessively you understand but I would have to go out and do it as it would bother me every time I looked at it _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

My son bought a Fiat Seicento Sporting which came with alloy wheels. It had the same brakes/hubs that where fitted to the base model, which when fitted with steel wheels they could not be seen. But with alloys you could see the rust on the unpainted parts.............soon had the wheels off and painted the hubs and drums.......things like that annoy me! _________________ 1964 International Harvester |

The only time my wheels come off is for new tyres or a puncture... With one exception. I once had a wheel fall off while going along a motorway.

I used to drive 44 tonne trucks and was paranoid about checking the trailer wheel nuts were tight before setting off. I have seen wheels come off a truck and completely wreck a car on more than one occasion. _________________ ROVER

That describes my attitude to doing things, I need to 'know' things are right rather than be told they are
I also like to over engineer everything, from the number of coats of paint to the number of fasteners etc used. |

OK you asked for it! Wail and gnash your teeth you lovers of order and tidiness.
I felt obliged to take a photo of my garage, at this very moment. The more observant of you will notice the fasteners box I mentioned earlier, laying on its side surrounded by an unbelievable amount of debris.

Thanks, but where have you hidden my ruddy nuts and bolts, and where's the bottom half of my spare outboard?
