Just made myself useful to the old firm by making a delivery for them:
250 miles to High Wycombe and back, mostly on the M25.
It was one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had, every lorry driver seemed to be some sort of Serbo-Croat homicidal lunatic.
Just staying alive in my little Rio took every ounce of concentration.
A desperate stop at a "services" for sustenance and comfort gave me the impression I had paid west-end prices to be poisoned by some species of 'Fowlberger', sold by one of the usual suspects.
The only high point was seeing an early thirties Rolls Sedanca de Ville, seemingly serene and untouchable, gently purring along amongst the snarling mass of steel, tin and plastic.
I think I shall do most of my driving in rural France from now on I'm getting too old for this... |

| I saw a documentary on those LHD lorries on TV recently, they have a blind spot near the cab that makes them lethal to smaller vehicles. Added to which the foreign owners and hauliers are putting pressure on the drivers to drive way over their daily hours, it's a recipe for disaster really. |
