These photo's are from ForumAuto which is a French based site that caters for classic lovers.
They have a section on 'discoveries' and I'm continually surprised by what they post
That single category has over 3000 pages of discoveries but these are from very recent posts...where do they find them?
The tantalising thing about French discoveries seems to be that despite the neglect and possibly due to a kinder climate they usually appear quite solid and eminently restorable! |

| I had Standard Mayflower (top pic) for a few months back in the early seventies, it was very comfortable to ride in, but one did have to set off rather earlier so as to arrive on time.. and stopping was a bit like gambling, sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't. |

The windows in the Mayflower give the impression of being inside a greenhouse . When I think of it, it's a very similar situation with my classic Range Rover _________________ ROVER

Why do you think I have 14 cars to date, they are endless, I am having to start being "picky" now and take cars I want not just everything i am offered
I want a few specials now like aronde, hotchkiss, facel vega, 201 peugeot, rare Citroens or Renaults
I have to start buying with reason otherwise I am just going to look like a scrapyard and although my really long suffering wife is very forgiving the garden is her domain _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

in a way you are helping your wife out (this is my theory anyway), by filling the garden with rare and interesting old motor vehicles, you are reducing the amount of gardening that is required, thus lessening her workload! sounds like a 'win win' situation to me

I will tell her, trouble is she loves her ride on mower so is always sad when its finished, as too am I, its quite entertaining watch her joggle up an down over the bumps
I have just won an argument with the maire to extend our garden by 10m all the way round, that makes 2000msq extra. It was our field anyway but had to change designation of land!!
A bottle of Chaval Blanc swayed it in the end, as my French mate keeps saying, parking ici, ici, ici, legumes ici, chickens ici, parking ici, ici, ici _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

Greeney, I've got a rather nice classic ride on lawn mower just waiting to be restored. Would that not please your wife? |

For those of us that grew up in the 60's or early 70's and lived through the days of seeing derelict vehicles on every street, and can remember scrapyards full of 'classics' France seems like the chance of a second childhood!
I think I'd still feel some of the excitement I felt back in the 60's while exploring these old car sites.
Greeney if you find a nice solid early Aronde or two I could be tempted to adopt one when you reach Hectare capacity!
Wonderful old stuff!
Then there's always.... No French scene would be complete without one!
I think I know where next years holiday will be taken...perhaps a nice motor tour of rural France! |

More recent French finds... spot the rare Vauxhall Cresta amongst these!
This is pretty cool for a barn find!
This sound looking rolling shell was for sale for just 1000 euro £700-ish!
