Isn't it funny the little things that make your day?
I found this item in the picture and from what I know about the Citroen DS it brings it alive
If anyone can tell me what it is and where it came from you will get a prize but thats a safe bet I think unless there is a DS fanatic such as myself
The funniest answer will get a prize too

So no one is playing then?
OK the reason I got so excited was because under normal circumstances it would never be found ; What citroen called the "caisse en blanche" chassis in white is the completed skeleton, each chassis is placed on a special jig and all suspension tubes are cut at once to get an accurate alignment.
The rear has deep mounting boxes where the swarf from this machining would fall and be lost forever probably rust rusting away to dust. I put my chassis in white on a roller and that swarf fell out. Silly I know but its evidence of work completed at the factory, I keep it in a little plastic box and get laughed at a lot by those whom do not understand the passion _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

This hidden find reminds me of a possibly apocryphal story that goes back to the days when British Leyland was at the height of its trade union problems.
A Jaguar XJ6 was being produced for Lord Stokes and went down the production line labelled as such. At the last moment he decided he wanted a different colour and the car was sent out to the dealer network and sold to an unsuspecting customer.
The car was plagued with a rattle from the rear and was returned to the dealer under warranty. The rear suspension was replaced, and all fixings in the area were taken apart and checked several times. Eventually they had to give up locating the rattle and the owner was given a new car and the problem one was returned to BL who stripped it back to a bare shell but the rattles were still present.
They then cut open the cills and found a selection of nuts and washers strung on a length of welding rod fixed to the inside of the cill! _________________ Brian
