So here is an interesting question for the legal buffs.
Last time we popped over to France for a top up of the Red Vino, I, as everyone else was doing, filled the van to the top before coming home. The thing that triggered off the thought was watching an Englishman filling barrels with diesel, and putting them in the back of his vehicle.
I am aware of the petroleum regs (work!) but believe they do not limit the maximum amount of diesel that can be carried.
This leads to two questions, can I buy quantities of diesel in France (it has got to be cheaper than here)and bring it home on the ferry or the Shuttle?

| While there may not actually be any regulations regarding the amount of diesel you are able to buy I would imagine there will be restrictions on the amount that you can legally carry inside a vehicle not designed to carry hazardous materiel. |

I thought the rules stated no fuel containers. Full or empty.
With my Sprite only having a small tank, I like to always carry some spare
but I've been told it's against the rules. |

Hi
Good job my Ford is not going that way, as I have at least 20L in the back!
The answer to this fuel problem is easy, go back to a colonial steam engine and burn sticks, see if the goverment think there taxes are making people go green then, although they would probably tax twigs!
Cheers

This came up on another forum recently, from memory the limit is something like 10L and that doesn't include a jerry can on the car.

Hi
I hear Red Diesel may well be being got rid off, with farmers to use normal diesel, then get a grant, per acre of land to pay the difference.
Could cause many problems, especially if contractors, cannot get a grant, as they would have to fill up at each farm, but how to get there to fill up?
Cheers
