Government announcement:
'As of the first of August 2008 cars in the UK will drive on the righthand side of the road, except cars first registered before the first of January 1947.' _________________ To Hell with ambition, it drives a man mad, I can scarcely wake up to be fed. |

Coming to Canada after some 55 years in the UK, I am quite often asked why the UK drive on the "wrong" side.
I am fairly conversant to the main reasons, but have found this link which has some interesting points.
Of course I get asked if I find it awkward driving on the right, to which my reply is often, "not really, because nearly everyone else here is doing it too"

Referring to the last paragraph on the link, the author doesnt know left from right, or more correctly, clockwise from anti clockwise....
This is the reason we should never believe everything we read... |

There is a road in England where one has to drive on the right, it's the road leading up to the Savoy Hotel in London. Be warned _________________ To Hell with ambition, it drives a man mad, I can scarcely wake up to be fed. |

Hi Roverron
In Blackburn we have a rooftop car park which is accessed from the righthand side of a oneway street and the access road to that is also "drive on the right" because otherwise entering traffic would have to cross in front of exiting traffic. |
